From Shadows to Light

An Educator's Transformational Journey and Inner Awakening with LMAD

A Soul-Stirring Testimony by Mr. Sujit Roy / Educator, Jamshedpur

Hello everyone,

Today, I stand before you not merely as an educator, but as a man reborn. My journey of transformation is not just a personal story — it is a testimony to the extraordinary power of purpose, love, and inner awakening. It is the story of how Let's Make a Difference (LMAD) lit the path from the shadows of confusion and despair to the radiant light of self- discovery and meaningful living.

The Beginning: A Gentle Hand in the Darkness

The genesis of my transformation began with a gentle, loving hand extended by my beloved sister, Ms. Sangita Sarkar — whom I affectionately call Choto Maa. She saw in me what I had long forgotten or perhaps never realized: a spark waiting to be ignited. With infinite patience and unwavering faith, she guided me to the doorstep of LMAD — a sanctuary where broken souls find healing and lost dreams find wings.

It was through her that I first met Sri Dadabhai, the mentor whose presence is nothing short of divine. His words did not simply echo in my ears — they reverberated deep within my conscience. His teachings pierced through the layers of self- doubt and apathy that had built up over years of drifting through life.

I remember that moment vividly, as if it were yesterday. A moment suspended in time where I asked myself the most profound question any human can face: "Who am I really?" Until then, I had been like a ship adrift at sea — experienced, knowledgeable, yet directionless and spiritually lost. My life was a collection of routines and responsibilities, but I lacked a deeper meaning, a purpose that would ignite my soul and anchor my being.

LMAD did not just answer my question — it shook me awake. It ignited a dormant fire within, a flame of hope, courage, and clarity. It gave me a new lens to view the world, myself, and my role within this vast, interconnected tapestry of life.

The Four Pillars of Transformation — PUHL

Central to this awakening were the Four Pillars of LMAD — Purity, Unselfishness, Honesty, and Love — affectionately known as PUHL. These were not just abstract ideals; they became the very foundation stones of my rebirth.

Purity

Purity became the cleansing balm that washed away the clutter of negative thoughts and harmful habits. It taught me that true purity is not about perfection or external appearances, but about cultivating a heart and mind free from malice, deceit, and ego. To be pure is to align thought, word, and deed in harmonious truth — a lesson that slowly rewired my perspective and actions.

Unselfishness

Unselfishness opened my eyes to the profound joy that comes from giving without expectation. For years, I had unknowingly lived trapped in the confines of "what can I get?" LMAD taught me the liberation of "what can I give?" This shift in mindset transformed not only how I related to others but how I related to myself. It introduced me to the grace of generosity — not just with material things but with kindness, patience, and understanding.

Honesty

Honesty is the mirror of the soul. It was perhaps the hardest pillar to embrace fully because it demanded brutal self-honesty. To confront my flaws, mistakes, and weaknesses with courage was humbling, but it was also the first step toward genuine healing. LMAD gave me the tools to reflect without judgment and grow from my imperfections instead of hiding behind excuses.

Love

And finally, Love — the language that transcends all barriers. LMAD taught me that love is not just a feeling but a way of being. It is the force that can dissolve fear, anger, and resentment. Love became the guiding light in my relationships, especially with my family and students. It is the ultimate healer and the most powerful motivator for lasting change.

The Gift of Quiet Time — Embracing Stillness

One of the greatest gifts LMAD bestowed upon me was the practice of Quiet Time — a daily sanctuary of silence and introspection. Before LMAD, I rarely paused to listen to the whispers of my own heart. Life's chaos often drowned out my inner voice, leading me to react impulsively with frustration and anger.

Quiet Time became a sacred rhythm in my life. In those precious moments of stillness, I learned to tame the storms within — the anger that once flared at small provocations, the I restless mind that raced with worries, the harsh judgments I carried toward myself and others.

I discovered how to listen — truly listen — to my thoughts, feelings, and intuitions without condemnation. I learned to respond with love instead of reacting with harshness. The change did not go unnoticed. One of my students, with innocent sincerity, said to me, "Sir, you've changed. You are so good. "That simple statement became a beacon of validation, a sign that the transformation was real and deeply felt.

Academic and Professional Breakthroughs

This inner transformation soon blossomed outward, influencing my professional life profoundly.

Encouraged by LMAD's values and discipline, I submitted my first research article, which was published in an international journal. This milestone marked not just an academic achievement, but a testament to the power of purpose-driven work.

In 2023, I achieved a long-held dream — a perfect score of 100 in Social Science in both CBSE and ICSE examinations. This personal triumph was made even more meaningful when six to seven of my students mirrored that success. Their achievements were not mere coincidences but the result of an environment steeped in the values LMAD fosters — a classroom where discipline, dedication, and love converge.

This academic breakthrough was more than grades and publications. It was a reflection of a life rebuilt on a foundation of clarity, integrity, and passion for learning and teaching.

A Personal Renaissance — Triumph Over Shadows

My personal life, too, underwent a profound renaissance.

What began as casual drinking in 2023 had, by 2024, escalated into a harmful habit that clouded my judgment and strained my relationships. I was caught in a vicious cycle, one I feared I might never escape.

But LMAD's teachings, especially the practice of Quiet Time and the strength I drew from the Four Pillars, helped me reclaim control of my life. Step by step, day by day, I renounced alcohol, tobacco, and even onion and garlic, embracing a clean, vegetarian, and spiritually focused lifestyle.

This transformation was not merely about abstaining from substances; it was about reclaiming my dignity, health, and inner peace.

One of the most beautiful outcomes of this personal healing was the restoration of my marital relationship. My marriage, once fractured and distant, healed through forgiveness, patience, and renewed understanding. My wife and I now share laughter, deep conversations, and a love reborn — a love grounded in respect, empathy, and shared purpose.

The Mentor Behind the Miracle — Sri Viral Bhai

I must express my deepest gratitude to the divine mentor who has been the guiding light in this journey — Sri Viral Bhai, affectionately known to me as Dadabhai.

He is more than a teacher — he is my Godfather, my Light in the darkest hours. His wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith sculpted my soul and reshaped my destiny.

His presence in my life is a sacred blessing. Every day, I pray for his health, happiness, and long life, thankful beyond words for his guidance and love.

The LMAD — JYC 2024 session was a pivotal experience that recalibrated the compass of my life. It illuminated the dormant corners of my being and offered clarity where once there was confusion and despair.

A Living Testimony — An Invitation to Transform

As I share my story today, I do so not just to recount my own journey but to offer a living testimony of what is possible when purpose, discipline, and love converge.

Let this story be an invitation to each one of you — whether you are an educator, a student, a parent, or a seeker — to embrace the values that have transformed my life.

Let's Make a Difference is not just a movement; it is a crucible of character, a sanctuary of self-discovery, and a beacon of purposeful living. It has rewritten my destiny and given me back my truest self.

Reflections from the Soul

I want to leave you with some reflections that have become the guiding mantras of my life:

Thank you, LMAD. Thank you, Dadabhai.

And thank you all for listening. May your own journey from shadows to light be as profound and beautiful as mine has been.
